    365 Bible Reading

    April 23 – Matthew 13

LOOK:  In this passage we hear several parables.  Parables are often referred to as, “earthly stories with a heavenly meaning”.  Jesus taught in parables for the benefit of His true followers.  Notice that Jesus would speak a parable to the multitudes and explain it to those followers who would listen.

LISTEN:  Read the parables in this passage and listen to the explanation that Jesus provides.

LEARN:  Questions we should ask:  1) What have I done with the Gospel of Jesus that I have heard?  2) Am I the wheat or the weeds that Jesus referenced? 3) Am I on guard from the attacks of Satan on the truth? 4) Is God’s future kingdom worth more than anything in this life to me?  5) Jesus says that the righteous and wicked will be separated at the end of this age…Am I part of the group of righteous?

    365 Bible Reading

    April 21 – Matthew 12

LOOK:  This passage shows the continual attack of the Pharisees against Jesus.  They attack Him about disobeying the Sabbath and Jesus responds that He is Lord of the Sabbath not a servant of it.  Jesus heals people on the Sabbath and casts out demons but the Pharisees claim that He is actually Satan not the Son of God.  Jesus explains how that would be impossible and makes a clear claim that He was the Son of God.

LISTEN:  The religious lost did not accept Jesus for who He was.  They not only tried to diminish Him in front of the people, they plotted to kill Him…and eventually put a plan into effect.

LEARN:  Make no mistake…Jesus is God’s Son and He accomplished His mission!  He became sin for us and suffered the consequences of our rebellion.  He is coming back…be ready!

    365 Bible Reading

    April 20 – Proverbs 16

LOOK:  “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!  The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives.

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.  Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD.”

LISTEN:  Once again we look at the Proverbs and enjoy the quick, pithy wisdom from God.  Take the time to read this passage.

LEARN:  After you read this Proverb passage, take some time to identify a few of the verses that you need to consider in your life.  Allow God to conform your life to His way of living and trusting in Him.

    365 Bible Reading

    April 19 – Matthew 11

LOOK:  John the Baptist sends some of his disciples to ask Jesus directly if He was the Messiah.  John has spent his life preparing the way for the ministry of Jesus and now he wants to know without any doubt that Jesus is the Son of God.  Jesus sends the affirmative message back and then begins to condemn the people of Israel that would not believe in Him even after John’s testimony and the evidence of Jesus’ miracles.  Jesus ends this passage with a call to believe and repent.

LISTEN:  Matthew’s gospel is written for Jews from a Jewish perspective but we can certainly draw principles from it.  The people of Israel rejected Christ even though they had all the evidence they could ever need.  Today, we all have multiple copies of the Bible that provides us a clear and thorough evidence that Jesus is the Son of God.

LEARN:  In light of the evidence in Scripture, have you believed and repented?  Romans 10:9 says, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
