    365 Bible Reading

    March 31 – James 2

LOOK:  “But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”

LISTEN:  Faith is shown on our actions!  This is what James is screaming for us to hear and understand.  The first example he gives is about not showing favoritism.  Our action of caring only for the rich and ignoring the poor shows a lack of faith.  James also drops some examples of faith on us and ends by saying, “faith without works is dead”.

LEARN:  What is your faith showing?  It shows something…whether it is a little faith of a big faith, your actions give you away!

Happy Good Friday!!  “Today is Friday…but…Sundays coming!!!”

    March 30 – Proverbs 13

LOOK:  “Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm.”

LISTEN:  Out of this chapter in Proverbs comes a great proverb that every teen should memorize and live by.  The wisdom given in this verse is about who you spend your life with.  If you walk with the wise you will be wise but if you choose to hang with fools, you will be brought down!

LEARN: Who do you spend most of your time with?  You will become like those you spend the most time with.  Make sure you are being a friend of influence and not an influenced friend!!

    365 Bible Reading

    March 29 – James 1

LOOK:  “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.  Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

LISTEN:  James is a great book.  This book is about practical Christian living 101.  Remember that the believers that James is writing to are experiencing great persecution and on the verge of giving up.  James encourages them but also challenges them to live obedient lives.

LEARN:  James teaches us this famous thought, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror  and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.  But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”

    365 Bible Reading

    March 28 – Galatians 6

LOOK:  “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

LISTEN:  Paul wraps up this letter to the believers in Galatia with a commendation to live a righteous life and he tells them how to encourage one another to live righteously.  The message is this…Don’t live in the flesh…do good to all people!

LEARN:  Are you living as a slave to your flesh?  Make yourself a slave of Christ!!

    365 Bible Reading

    March 27 – Galatians 5

LOOK:  Paul is upset that false teachers are telling the Gentile believers that they have to be circumcised in order to be saved.  Paul feels pretty strongly that these teachers are wrong and deserve punishment.  Here’s how he says it, “As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!”.  Paul then encourages all believers to not be a slave to wicked desires but to honor Christ with our lives.

LISTEN:  Toward the end of this passage, Paul really emphasizes the key to honoring Christ is selfless living.  Selfless living will affect yourself and your relationship with others.

LEARN:  Observe you life closely today.  How much emphasis are you placing on pleasing yourself and fulfilling your wants and desires?  Purposefully look for ways to serve others before yourself today.
