    March 28 – Galatians 6

LOOK:  “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

LISTEN:  Paul wraps up this letter to the believers in Galatia with a commendation to live a righteous life and he tells them how to encourage one another to live righteously.  The message is this…Don’t live in the flesh…do good to all people!

LEARN:  Are you living as a slave to your flesh?  Make yourself a slave of Christ!!

    365 Bible Reading

    March 27 – Galatians 5

LOOK:  Paul is upset that false teachers are telling the Gentile believers that they have to be circumcised in order to be saved.  Paul feels pretty strongly that these teachers are wrong and deserve punishment.  Here’s how he says it, “As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!”.  Paul then encourages all believers to not be a slave to wicked desires but to honor Christ with our lives.

LISTEN:  Toward the end of this passage, Paul really emphasizes the key to honoring Christ is selfless living.  Selfless living will affect yourself and your relationship with others.

LEARN:  Observe you life closely today.  How much emphasis are you placing on pleasing yourself and fulfilling your wants and desires?  Purposefully look for ways to serve others before yourself today.

    365 Bible Reading

    March 26 – Galatians 4

LOOK:  This passage gets difficult.  Paul still makes his appeal to the people in Galatia to not turn back to trusting in the law for their salvation.  He now reminds them of how much love they had for Paul and how much they had sacrificed and was willing to sacrifice for him.  He asks how they could now turn and rebel after such a great relationship.  Paul concludes by explaining that they are now free and no longer slaves to the law.

LISTEN:  You can hear the pain that Paul has when writing this letter.  He does not want these dear friends to fall away because of false teaching.

LEARN:  Are you guarding yourself from false teaching?  Beware…there are many people claiming to be Christians today that teach false doctrine and dangerous teachings.

    365 Bible Reading

    March 24 – Galatians 3

LOOK:  Paul really gets after the believers in Galatia for heading backwards and relying on the law.  Paul spends a great portion of this passage explaining that the law can not bring life but only guilt.  Life can only be found in Christ by faith in His atoning sacrifice on the cross.

LISTEN:  The warning for us today would be to understand grace.  It could be easy to trust in our righteousness and begin to think of ourselves as accepted by God because of our goodness and deserving religious lives.  Our righteousness only comes from Christ and we deserve nothing but death but because of God’s great mercy, He gives us life.

LEARN:  Guard yourself from becoming arrogant about your goodness.  Remember, the Bile tells us that all of our good works are like a pile of filthy rags!

LISTEN:  I enjoy reading through the proverbs.  Take the time to read through this section this weekend.

LEARN:  I challenge you to post your favorite verse from this passage.  There are so many good ones…I don’t think it will take you long to choose one to share with our group.
